Ali Gunn kills people for a living*.
Authors come from all over with interesting backgrounds to their work. It’s always fun to hear their stories. Ali Gunn is the author of several books, the best-known of which is The Career Killer.
So, can you tell a bit more about yourself?
“Before turning my hand to writing, I worked in forensics. This led to me consulting for a number of large publishers to help ensure that their books were accurate. That’s when I thought ‘hey, I could do this’.”
So that led to your first book, right?
“Yes, my first book, The Career Killer, has been out for 9 months or so now. It’s the first in a series of four I’m contracted to write all starring DCI Mabey. Elsie is a CFS-suffering detective juggling work, love, and disability in modern-day London.”
Do you plot or outline your stories?
“All my books are carefully plotted. I try and dovetail a number of subplots so everything has to link up in a realistic, convincing way.”
And your next book?
“I’m co-authoring a more edgy thriller called The Grifter which my co-author has dubbed ‘the ultimate revenge story’. I hope we can live up to that promise.”
That sounds great. What’s the best thing about your latest book?
“I’d say the best thing about it is that it’s a fresh, original book which tells a story nobody else has told before. After 700+ Goodreads reviews, it seems most readers love it.”
